Some people indicate that the problem could depend on the number of bookmarks, or corrupted bookmarks. (The "General settings" include tabs and some more stuff I don't know in detail, but here's a pic of the Mozbackup choices for reference: ) But when I made a fresh FF installation and restored (via Mozbackup) ONLY my "General settings" - not bookmarks, not history, not cookies etc - the same old problem appeared anyway. I recently made the workaround mentioned in Bug 484964 (increased the preference from 10,000 to 120,000 milliseconds to prevent frequent disk writes etc) and initially thought the whole problem was over, but it was not. There is still something that makes FF freeze, and the problem accumulates over time just like before. It feels like the freezes now are perhaps a bit shorter less occurring, but still bad. (See my picture just posted - there are some new freezing periodicity that should be looked into.)Īn interesting step forward, though, is that FF consumes notably less CPU now after the workaround.
